The Norwegian branch of the IEEE Power and Energy Society (PES) invites you to the webinar
A journey towards Sustainable Power Solutions
Tuesday, June 07, 2022 at 14.00-15.00
Webinar on MS Teams
Agenda:
Brief Abstract:
Rolls-Royce Power System has vast reputation of supplying high performance diesel and gas engine/ genset products to power-gen, rail as well as marine applications, ranging from hundreds of KW to multi-MW application either in Low Voltage or Medium to High Voltage fields. Additionally in last decades, our solution landscape has expanded to power-gen battery application along with high efficiency Dynamic UPS solutions in the similar power range. The system integration is facilitated by our digital solutions, microgrid control solutions, power management solutions, remote control solutions etc. working as the brain for the big plants in demanding domains such as datacenter application, renewable firms, mining applications, rail engines, yachts, fast ferry etc. With recent commitment of EU Commission to increase the GHG emission reduction target from 40% to 55% by 2030 and plan to turn this to a legal commitment, Rolls-Royce Power System has committed to deliver 100% CO2 neutral solutions by 2050, which is called NET ZERO target. With this transformation, Rolls-Royce Power System has already upgraded the solution portfolio to deliver Fuel cell Solutions, Hydrogen and sustainable fuel based Engine/ genset solutions as well as electrolyser solutions for stationary as well as Marine applications. Site demonstrator, built in our facility in Friedrichshafen Germany, already operates to deliver electric power from hydrogen for daily usage. Several customer projects are being worked on now to deliver sustainable solutions in stationary and Marine applications. This presentation will aim to give an overview of how we as Rolls-Royce Power System aims to deliver solutions to transform the sustainable market with strong expertise on new product development and being a trusted partner with strong global network.

Brief Bio:
Souvik Dasgupta has completed his PhD in Power Electronics and Control in 2012 from National University of Singapore (NUS). Since then he has been working as projects leads for power electronics as well as power system projects with national grid research centers, oil and gas companies and other power generation industries. As current engagement, Souvik is working in Rolls-Royce Solutions GmbH at Friedrichshafen, Germany as Lead Project Engineer and Electrical Architect in Sustainable Business Unit. He has been part of corporate R&D activities in Electrical Machine Design, High Fidelity Modelling and Simulation, Condition Monitoring, Power Electronics Design and Microgrids, General Power Systems so far.
Access
You will receive an access link and further instructions by e-mail the day before the seminar. IEEE is the leading professional association for technology development. With more than 400,000 members in more than 160 countries, IEEE is the world's largest technical union. The ambition of the IEEE Power & Energy Society (PES) is to promote and share scientific knowledge about electric power and energy. The Norwegian PES chapter supports this ambition by arranging technical seminars. The annual fee for IEEE membership is $ 171 + $ 35 for PES. New members receive a 50% discount the first year. Students have reduced fees. Please visit the IEEE PES website for more information.
